Chicago Cubs Dugout (1930)
Chicago Cubs Dugout (1930): From left to right, Riggs Stephenson, Kiki Cuyler, Rogers Hornsby and Hack Wilson represent part of what was an extremely fierce Chicago Cubs lineup in 1930. All but Riggs would later be inducted to the National Badeball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York. Hornsby, nicknamed "The Rajah," is the only player in baseball history to hit 40 home runs and bat over .400 (in 1922). He won seven batting titles and has a career .358 average that was second only to Ty Cobb. He played second base for the Cubs from 1929 to 1932 and as a player manager from 1930 to 1932. Outfield Lewis "Hack" Wilson played for the Cubs from 1926 to 1931. His epic 1930 season featured 56 home runs (a National League record that would stand until 1998) and 191 runs-batted-in (RBI) — unsurpassed to this day. Hazen Shirley "Kiki" Cuyler played right field for the Cubs from 1928 to 1935, and had a lifetime batting average of .321. Jackson Riggs "Warhorse" Stephenson played left field for the Cubs from 1926 to 1934. Rarely a full-time player, Stephenson nevertheless had a career batting average of .336 and, in 1929 with Cuyler and Wilson, was part of the only outfield in National League history where all three players had 100 RBIs or more.
